You Make a Difference
RotaCare only exists because of our dedicated volunteers who give so generously of their time and talents. By volunteering with RotaCare as little as two afternoons each month, you can make a difference in someone’s life by helping them get the health care they need.
We need administrative assistance as well as medical professionals. If you have medical skills, fluency in a second language, administrative skills, or you are able to assist in any other way, we welcome your help.
To volunteer or contribute in any capacity, please contact the Volunteer Manager at: 516.539.9834 or email us at info@rotacareny.org.
Listed below are some ways in which you can volunteer with RotaCare:
Physician
A New York State Licensed Physician is responsible for the overall management of the patients and provides primary care or makes the necessary referrals if the care cannot be provided at RotaCare.
Nurse Practitioner
A New York State Certified Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the overall management of the patients and provides primary care or makes the necessary referrals if the care cannot be provided at RotaCare.
Nurse
An Intake Nurse is a registered or licensed practical nurse who is responsible for the initial medical assessment of the patient’s presenting problem. The intake nurse also provides routine patient care as needed in collaboration with the Physician and Nurse Practitioner.
Pharmacist
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing, storing and administering medications.
Medication Room Assistant
A Registered Nurse or Pharmacy Technician assists in the preparation of medication under the direction of the Pharmacist.
Social Worker
The Social Worker conducts a socio-economic screening prior to a prospective patient receiving medical care. They will identify a patient’s medically related personal and social problems which may interfere with the patient’s treatment or recovery.
Translator
Translators assist non-English speaking patients as they interact with the medical and administrative staff.
Administrative Staff serve in many capacities:
Front Desk – Book appointments, schedule testing, manage referrals, handle patient records.
Reception – Register patients and maintain patient files.
Prescription Program for Indigent Patients (PPIP) – On behalf of RotaCare patients, volunteers submit applications to pharmaceutical companies that offer free medications to indigent patients. They also track receipt of donated medications.
Specialists
RotaCare is a Primary Care facility. To ensure that our patients get the complete care that they need, we make every attempt to refer patients to a specialist who will see our patients at their office free of charge. We need to expand our pool of specialists so that no patient is left without the necessary referral. If you are able to take an occasional referral from RotaCare and are interested in contributing to our mission in this way, please contact us for more information.
MAKE A DONATION
RotaCare relies on the generous support of individuals, companies, and foundations.
